We are a group of people from the Search and Rescue team at RAF Valley who feel passionately about supporting our wounded servicemen and women. I first pitched the idea to Mick Jewitt (Anglesey H4H County Coordinator) Last year. I work as a Sea King engineer with Mick and seeing as they're always fixed ;-) and never need work we had plenty of time to discuss how to raise more money for H4H. We start our cycling Journey from Cardiff on the 27th of May 2012 following National Cycle Route 8 and finishing in Holyhead on the 31st. Coming along the way will be the "Help
for Heroes Bike" a collaboration of efforts that culminated from Mick Jewitt's genius idea.

The bike started life as a Felt hardtail MTB in Evolution Bikes, Bangor High Street. It's celebrity diva lifestyle kicked off as it was used as an extra on S4C's drama series "Rownd a Rownd", filmed locally in Menai Bridge. The craving for a more adventurous lifestyle bore too much on this rugged Mountain Bike and a transfer was organised via Matt of Evolution (Becoming a bit of an Agent Matt?) to our good ol' selves at Cycle Wales
for Heroes. I stripped all the components off the bike frame and
Gaz Baldi spent a lot of his spare time designing, painting and stickering to get the bike to all it's Help
for Heroes glory.
It looks sensational I'm sure you'd agree. After the trip the bike will be forwarded to the Maestro's at Help
for Heroes HQ. I'm sure it won't be the last we see of it. Along the way from Cardiff we will be stopping off to recuperate and to fundraise even more money. We will be meeting with various organisations also such as Rotary club members who will assist us with maximising fundraising efforts while we are staying in town. Our itinerary will be as follows
Day one to night one.
Cardiff to Brecon. Staying at Pencelli Castle. A campsite situated on the Sustrans National Cycle Route.
Night two.
Rhayader. Staying at Wyeside Campsite
Night three
Dolgellau. Staying at Vanner Camping
Night four.
Caernarfon. Staying at Cwm Cadnant Campsite. We will be finishing off in Holyhead and Tesco Superstore Jill Scholes has given us permission to fundraise on the day. We'll see any donators at Tesco's main foyer.
Videos and Pictures will be blogged throughout the Journey so please stay tuned to the website.
Thank you.
